Despite my slight dislike to the Brit Awards, the 2010 award show really blew me away. For the first time I didn’t feel angry when certain artists won awards, and lets not forget the amazing performances. From Lady Gaga’s amazing Alexander McQueen tribute to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys knocking down the stage, the whole award show made me very happy.
However there was one performance of the evening that really took it to another level. By now (and its only been a few days..) someone must have surely sent you a link to the video and by now, you probably already love it. For me, Florence + The Machine and Dizzee Rascal’s You’ve Got The Dirtee Love (a remix of You’ve Got The Love ) was not only by far the best performance of the night, but by far the best song I heard the entire night. I was blown away by the arrangement and thought that went into the track. It far surpassed your usual “lets throw a rapper into a song” performance that you see at these award shows.
The re-arrangement of the song, combined with live harps (LOVE!), Dizzee’s actually relevant lyrics and Florence’s damn-catchy hook, I had to replay the video a few times. I have to also add though, Dizzee dropping rhymes while wearing a full tux was just super gangz.
Now, I know you’ve all probably seen the video - so I’ve also decided to throw an mp3 in here so you can still bounce around to the tune while you’re in your car, or on the bus, or whatever.
